The three major search engines Google, Bing and Yahoo all have a customer base so wide, you do not want to just stick with one. All are very different and when you add information to one search engine, it does not automatically help out a position on the other two. It is frustrating thinking of all the time and effort that goes into setting up a business online, but all 3 search engines offer different benefits to make them worth your time. So which is the best search engine?
Is Bing the Best Search Engine?
To start, Bing has just started a new marketing campaign called “Bing it on,” where they are paying users with every search being worth 2 points. This word play reminds me of this Disney film scene.
Before you decide to just skip down to the paragraph on Google, Bing has improved their search results a lot recently, taking about 18% of the market share in July. And did you know that when you text while driving through Siri or beg her to get you that last open table reservation or even update you on the NFL games, she is finding all this information through Bing. This turns my head considering I use Siri like she is my personal secretary!
Bing works like Google in that the more people are pointing to an article or website, the more likely it is to be at the top of the results. Even just typing in information will bring up all sorts of resources such as IMDb, Wikipedia, YouTube, etc.
This can become intrusive with Google though, pulling from all personal accounts that are left open.
Bing wins the best search engine award for privacy , but I still wish my Siri was in Google. My main reason for that is that Bing a lot of times cannot find local information that I would want to use Siri for.
Is Google the Best Search Engine?
Bing might want to bring their A-game because as of now, from where I am sitting (and from all the people I know), “Google it” is heard a lot more often than “Bing it on.”
Recently, Google is an innovator in new technology with a driverless car, the Google-glasses and the Knowledge Graph that will answer questions, propose follow up questions, do comparisons and pull information from anything you are signed into. This is their biggest downfall, in that it has ALL of your information stored and where will that take us?
My boyfriend’s Google phone absolutely KILLS my iPhone in voice activated search. As I mentioned above, Bing is used for iOS.
Google wins the best search engine award, period. It always finds what I want, typically before I have even finished the sentence.
Is Yahoo! the Best Search Engine?
Yahoo has lately been reworking all of it’s major products (homepage, Mail, Flickr, etc.) and buying up new brand name products such as Tumblr.
Yahoo even has occasionally risen above Google in the amount of unique U.S. visitors are going to their site. The question is are they are on Tumblr, since the first time this happened was after it was bought? This doesn’t tell me their search is better, only that Tumblr still has a lot of users.
My opinion is that Google is the best and if you only have a certain amount of time, spend it here. But eventually please get to the others, because if I ever have need to look you up I do use Siri on my phone frequently.
Best Search Engine Awards
No matter which search engine you choose, you should be careful not to dismiss any of them. They will most likely never produce similar results, but all results will be beneficial in their own way.
